What do foreign buyers look for on the Costa Blanca?
Foreign buyers are one of the keys to the good performance of the real estate market on the Costa Blanca. Despite a slight drop in the total number of transactions registered during the first quarter of 2019, purchases made by foreign buyers remained at a similar level to those made in the same period of 2018, according to figures from the Ministry of Development.
The data published by the Ministry of Development reveals that 49% of the total number of homes purchased in Alicante province in the first quarter of 2019, ended up in foreign buyers’ hands.
In light of such overwhelming figures it’s almost impossible not to wonder exactly what makes the Costa Blanca the favourite place for buyers from all over the world.
Although the Costa Blanca’s attractions are the same for all types of buyers, the fact is that very different elements are more important to buyers of properties on the Costa Blanca depending on their nationality. Let’s take a more in-depth look:
60% of the foreign buyers who buy a villa on the Costa Blanca from Modern House are of Belgian nationality.
Their reasons to buy can be very varied, but a wish to have a place to enjoy holidays and escape the Belgian cold and rain is predominant.
This type of client tends to dedicate their property to holiday rentals for the remainder of the year. This allows them to gain some returns on their property.
Another very common client profile is the one who buys a villa on the Costa Blanca as a permanent home to start a new life in Spain. The weather, proximity to the sea and good quality of services offers are some of the most attractive elements.
The rest of Modern House’s foreign buyers (40%) are English, French, Algerian and German.
For this group of clients, the first reason to buy is still for holidays. The good connections with their countries of origin allow them to visit their properties for short but very frequent breaks.
The villas on the Costa Blanca North have a marked residential nature, the reduced overcrowding compared to that of other regions such as, for example, the Costa del Sol, allows its residents to enjoy larger spaces between villas, which makes them much more exclusive and provides them with greater privacy.
